Lenni-Kalle Taipale founded the group (Trio) in the fall of 1995. In the beginning the group consisted of Lenni-Kalle, bassist Timo Tuppurainen and drummer Sami Järvinen. In the summer of 1999 the bass player was replaced by Timo Tolonen. Trio's first gig was as a warm up band for Trio Töykeät on December 12th, 1995 in the Jazz-Café Louhi in Espoo's Cultural Centre. Jukka Hauru, a critic for one of Finland's biggest newspapers (Helsingin Sanomat) gave it a raving review and started Trio's jazz career on a positive note.
