The Band Bananas was formed in 1981. In 1982 they competed in the portuguese Festival Só-Rock (Rock Em Stock/7UP) that they ended up in first place. In 1983 they signed with EMI Portugal and release a single produced by Tóli César Machado, including the tracks "Identidade" and "Virgens-Impulsos". Jorge Romão leaves the band and joins the band GNR (Portugal). Afterwards the band decides to change their name to Ban and release the mini-LP "Alma Dorida". Four original songs in a record without keyboards, only guitar, bass, voice and drums.
