At a party following the Latvian Eurovision Song Contest preliminaries in 2002, Martin Freiman came up with an idea for the following year’s contest. Why not have several artists join together in song? In the fall of 2002, during a Latvian National Television golf tournament, three artists, Martin Freiman, Lauris Raynix and Yana Kay, started discussing the project and the trio F.L.Y. was born. Their song, “Hello from Mars”, was written by Martin and Lauris, and recorded soon afterwards.
