Csilla Szentpéteri started playing the piano at the age of seven. Already at an early age, her fine ear and excellent timing manifested themselves. Having graduated from the School of Music at Makó, she continued her music studies at the Szeged Béla Bartók Conservatory. Eventually, she graduated from the Budapest Franz Liszt Academy of Music as a pianist with summa cum laude qualification. She won her first scholarship in 1988, to the Basel Academy of Music in Switzerland, but a serious hand problem prevented her from using this opportunity.
